Jesus Christ-The Perfect Role Model

We live in a time when good role models are hard to come by, and this is all the more reason we should teach our children the need to look at what is truly important in life. Our media crazed culture is inundated with worship and praise for celebrities, professional athletes, and pop culture icons that have increasingly made a practice of letting down those who look up to them. I'm speaking of those who have earned fame and fortune from the talents God has blessed them with only to see it squandered away on drugs, illicit sexual behavior, or corruption. Many people, especially our children, look up to these celebrities as role models and examples only to be let down when the "big scandal" breaks in the national media. There is nothing wrong with having role models, and there are many great men and women now and throughout history who serve as influential examples for our children to look up to. But, recently, it seems like the reasons some people admire a person as a role model have changed. Today's materialistic culture measures one's greatness on what they have or what they have done instead of who they are. I can remember in my lifetime when those who earned the title of "hero" or "role model" earned it based on their character and not the size of their bank account, the number of movies they've made, or how many steroid-induced home runs they have hit. Our children will always look up to certain men and women of the world, but we must remind them that it is one's character and integrity that makes a person a good example to follow; not the material or worldly status they obtain. Regardless of who our children look up to in this world, they need to be taught the importance of making Jesus the greatest influence of their lives. Let's examine a few reasons why Jesus is the ultimate role model, and remember why we should teach our children to look up to Him before any other.

1. Jesus lived a perfect sinless life. We will never hear a news story break about how sin or pride ruined the life of Jesus. His life stands as a monument in time to what a life of character, integrity, and compassionate influence should be. Jesus will never let us down as a role model. He was the only human who ever lived without sin (Heb. 4:15), and we should teach our children to strive to walk in His footsteps everyday of their lives.
2. Jesus showed us that greatness comes through humility and serving others. Today's world teaches our children to get everything you can as fast as you can. Jesus lived His life in service of others. Jesus was famous, but He always gave the credit and glory for His talents, power, and ability to His Father in heaven. Jesus teaches us that we have what we have because God gave it to us, and whatever we accomplish in our life should be done to His glory. Compare that with the attitude of many of the people our children look up to today.
3. Jesus defeated the very problem that causes some of our modern day role models to fall. He defeated sin and the devil! Sin is the source of every problem mankind experiences, and Jesus defeated it by heroically giving His life on the cross (Rom. 5:6-12). No matter how great someone may become by today's standards; they can never save themselves from sin. All men "have sinned" (Rom. 3:23), and only Jesus can save us from the damage it has done (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the greatest role model that ever lived. He is the true Hero of the soul.

Benjamin Franklin

As a printer, author, diplomat, philosopher, and scientist, Benjamin Franklin will be known as one of America's greatest people of all time. I think he is a hero because he dedicated his life for the benefit of others. Like when he went to France for years to try to convince them to help us during the American Revolution. That was also an example for him standing up for what he believed in. In addition, his many advances in science greatly improved society. One of his better-known achievements in the field of science was his discovery that lightning was electricity. Next to that, he also founded what is thought to be the first ever public library, so the less fortunate could expand their minds and learn by reading books. He is a role model to many others and me.

Bob Marley

Bob Marley is my hero. He was a righteous man who stood up for what he believed in and I admire him greatly for that. Not many people are brave enough to stand up for themselves and share their beliefs. Bob Marley was from Amsterdam, which most people know as 'The Marijuana Capitol.' Bob was a life-long pot smoker who believed in making Marijuana legal. Many people these days would find that wrong, but back then it was 'the thing.' Bob Marley expressed himself through music. He had many hit singles including 'Three Little Birds' and 'No Woman No Cry.' Bob was also a very religious person and he was a hardcore member of Rastafarians. I admire Bob Marley for the fact that he wanted peace between everyone and stood up for what he believed in and followed his dreams.

Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu (Mother Teresa)

Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born on August 26, 1910. She is more commonly known as Mother Teresa. She is famous for being a Roman Catholic nun of Albanian ethnicity and Indian citizenship. She took care of the poor, orphaned, sick, and dying. I admire Mother Teresa because she cared about other people who were less fortunate and she really tried to make a difference in those people’s lives, which I think is a very kind and thoughtful thing to do. Mother Teresa died on September 5th, 1997 in Calcutta, India at age 87. After she died, Pope John Paul the second gave her the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.

Albert Einstein - The role model

His 1905 paper on the electrodynamics of moving bodies introduced his theory of special relativity, which showed that the observed independence of the speed of light on the observer’s state of motion required fundamental changes to the notion of simultaneity. Consequences of this include the time-space frame of a moving body slowing down and contracting (in the direction of motion) relative to the frame of the observer. This paper also argued that the idea of a luminiferous aether – one of the leading theoretical entities in physics at the time – was superfluous.

In his paper on mass–energy equivalence, which had previously been considered to be distinct concepts, Einstein deduced from his equations of special relativity what has been called the twentieth century’s best-known equation: E = mc2.This equation suggests that tiny amounts of mass could be converted into huge amounts of energy and presaged the development of nuclear power.[58] Einstein’s 1905 work on relativity remained controversial for many years, but was accepted by leading physicists, starting with Max Planck.

Warren Buffett - The Great Investor

Warren Buffett was born on August 30th in Omaha Nebraska, America. He was good with investment since he was young. I think his childhood is more valuable than others, for example at age 6 he understood how to make profit by buying products in mass and selling them, and he had started buying shares when he was only 11 years old. While children interested in playing with their friends, he had interested in making and saving money, such as selling chewing gum, Coca-Cola, weekly magazines, golf balls stamps, detailing cars, newspapers and he also worked in his grandfather’s grocery store. So his works always remind me when I feel tired, because everything that he had done makes me think if a little child can do, I can do too.

As aspect of an investor, Warren Buffett is regarded to be the most successful investor of the 20th century. He has an excellent logic, providence and good decision in financial investment. He also has philosophy and extreme ideas; if he attends in shares, he will buy and not sell them certainly. For example in 1988, he bought the Coca-Cola stocks when people thought he’d lost his mind. Finally, its value rose every years and made many profit to him. He said in an interview in 1989 about his investment that he looked for simple businesses, with consistent performance, and favorable long-term prospects. This speech is good. I really love his idea and also use in my life. He makes me be confident and be farsighted to do new things.
From valueless to be precious, from impossible to be possible, Warren Buffet breakthroughs them by his longsighted and patient. All of his works show every people realize how wonderful investments are. He seems like a role for me to develop myself. I wish to be successful like him someday. And he will be the best role model for me forever.

Roger Federer – A great role model

Roger Federer. 31 year old tennis player from Switzerland. The most decorated, the most accomplished male tennis player in history. He is regarded as the greatest of all time. By far, the most well rounded, most talented individual. Nobody moves like the Swiss; effortless, flawless, natural footwork, hand-eye coordination, precision and timing. Federer has defined his legacy with his adaptability, longevity, scheduling, and wisdom. He created and enhanced himself through greatness in value. However, beyond his historic records and classy style, he has revolutionized the sport of tennis. Off court, he is the prime role model in today’s increasingly superficial and mistake filled world. Hard work, learning from ups and downs, love, appreciation, and belief have defined Roger Federer. Greatness is in value. Success is simply a byproduct.

The current generation’s top players are all in their prime, following the #1 ranked Swiss in the ATP World Tour rankings. Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray. Combined, these “big four” are displaying tennis to the world. We are living in a modern day golden age for the sport. Benefitting from today’s social media and internet, fans feel much closer to their favorite players, but it can be a large distraction to the players themselves.

Roger Federer, however, is different. He is the role model, the consummate professional for every young aspiring individual to follow. From early on, he worked with his team to create the Roger Federer Foundation. He is the UNICEF ambassador for tennis. He has served as president of the ATP Player’s Council for years and has played an active role throughout. Over the years the top players have put on a charity event prior to major tournaments (Australian Open 2010, 2011, Indian Wells 2005, 2010, as some examples). Each time, it was Federer who brought forth the idea, and initiated the organization of those charity matches for tennis as a whole to contribute to victims of natural disasters.
